reverie 2a

1. Libra Ring : I have had my eye on this ring for some time.... it's only a matter of time before I breakdown and get it.

2. Philosykos Eau de Parfum : When I was in LA I stopped into Space NK and was delighted to discover this lovely scent. With it's hefty price tag this may be something that ends up on my Christmas Wishlist.

3. Chock A Block Necklace : Until recently I kept my distance from the all too present statement necklace. At first it seemed to trendy or goofy to stick but like many times before my initial judgment was way off. Okay, maybe not way off  - I still think it's purdy darn trendy - but the goofy part, now that was wrong. I love the chunkiness of this piece, the deliberate shape choices, the simple colors.

4. Borja Tumbler : Zara has a new home collection. What I love about this line is its adherence to classic shapes, lines, and colors. I was drawn to the refined design of this glass; how its small size and clear glass allow for the embellishments to really shine.

5. Case for iPad : During my NY trip I was lucky enough to find my way over to Purl Soho, a yarn store I have long since been a fan of for their patterns, quality yarn selection, and presentation. They had these Baggu iPad cases I was extremely close to purchasing. Again, simple and practical with wonderful color selections.

I should mention that I am a fairly avid pinner so if you find yourself so inclined, feel free to follow me here.

blanket

I just started this new project yesterday. I've been working on a few other projects that are more detailed and time consuming so I'm really excited for this one to come together fairly quickly.

This is what I've accomplished so far (while watching the season finale of Mad Men).....

keepin' it classy

Yesterday I took part in my first regatta. Boating season in Seattle celebrated it's Opening Day and kicked the whole thing off with a string of crew races from Lake Washington to Portage Bay. My Auntie T was super sweet and offered to drive us to and from the Montlake Cut so we could cheer on GU (we happen to know one of Gonzaga's lovely lady rowers).

After the race my aunt picked up my mom and I and we settled into brunch at Grace's Kitchen.

I capped off the day with a night at the symphony taking in a bit of Mozart and Shubert.

No one tells you that being fancy can be a tad exhausting. Hope you all had a sunny weekend.

burke museum

Yesterday I accompanied my cousin Jenn and my mother to the Burke Museum. As someone who grew up going to summer day camp, there are very few local tourist attractions I haven't been to and the Burke is one of them. We specifically went to catch the touring exhibit "Hungry Planet: What the World Eats". It is a collection of photographs from around the world of families and the food they consume in a week. I have to say, the family from Ecuador had the most contagious smiles.

They also have a few spaces dedicated to Natural History and showcase some beautiful artifacts.

As we were leaving the museum we were served a special treat compliments of the brothers of Greek Row (the Burke Museum rests at the north end of the UW campus). Perched atop a second story balcony the musical stylings of late 90's rap poured out onto the sun-soaked streets as we drove away. Long-live warm spring day in Jet City.

reverie 1a

1. {Peonies} I've never been much of a flower person - ask me the name of most plants and I can almost guarantee you I don't know it. However, I've recently begun to appreciate the subtle beauty of filling your house with fresh flowers. Peonies are just so lush and soft and indulgent.

2. {Kinfolk Magazine} I was thumbing through the current issue of this quarterly yesterday - my own copy is arriving in the mail this week - and everything from the paper to the photos to the layout got me so excited. I have been a long time fan of the whole "dinner with friends" things and this magazine is dedicated solely to food and the social experience of sharing it. Back in LA I had a group of friends that would get together and cook a huge meal on Sunday evenings. I truly cherish those meals together and lately I've been making an effort to makes those happenings occure more often.

3. {Barr-Co Oatmeal & Shea Butter Lotion} I first sited this yummy lotion at one of my favorite boutiques in Ballard, Lucca (seriously, they have the cutest nic nacs). The stuff is so smooth and even smells soft. I was at Anthropologie recently and noticed they are now selling the line. Good things should be shared with the masses.

4. {Kirsty Maccoll} This lady has been on heavy rotation as of late. Her mix of sweet and salty has found a perfect match in these early moments of spring. If you haven't listened to her I strongly suggest you check out "They Don't Know" and "A New England".... and if you're feeling a little spunky take "Turn My Motor" for a ride.

5. {1842 Rosa Alba Eau De Parfum} I NEED a new fragrance! I'm running low on my tried-and-true MJ and am itching to try something new. I've never actually sniffed this Happ & Stahns perfume but thought the bottle was quite darling. Any fragrance suggestions?

root to the clouds

{root to the clouds by c.m. fiske}
Welcome.

I would like to introduce you to a new little corner of the world, a place both Chelsea and I hold close to our hearts, a place known as Newhalem. If you are interested in the full back story head over to our About and we'll completely fill you in. In short, Newhalem is a small town nested deep in the mountain valleys of the North Cascades. During one of our ventures there, we came to an epiphany about life and ourselves and thus, the idea of The Newhalem Charter was born.

What you will find here is a collection of our own works, works of others we admire and life happenings we find worthy of sharing with you. Our goal is for you to get to know us. We're pretty fun gals (albeit a little irrational from time to time). But that's part of the beauty of life, no?

And like any healthy relationship, it's a two-way street. Talk to us. Let us know what's on your mind and what speaks to your heart.

Here's to a wonderful new friendship.
